WNBA fans went in on analyst Kim Adams after she brought up Caitlin Clark while discussing a heated moment between Kayla McBride and Marina Mabrey. At one point in Game 2 of the Lynx versus Sun second-round series on Tuesday, McBride seemingly hit Mabrey in the face and shoved her after scoring. Mabrey took her face accusing a hit and then got mad after McBride’s subsequent actions.
Fans didn’t take these comments kindly, calling out Adams for making the conversation about Clark when the rookie isn’t even playing.
Others questioned Adams’ title, mentioned that Clark never gets that call and added that the incident didn’t get more exposure because the Sun and Lynx didn’t draw as much attention as Caitlin.
“If this was CC over a million ppl would’ve tuned in but since a small group of ppl that watched and DaFace ain’t playing it’s not big news except on….twitter. The place where everybody is fan except when it comes to actually watching a game,” one fan said.
Marina Mabrey starred in several physical altercations in the Lynx game
Besides Marina Mabrey and Kayla McBride clashing, this game saw two more physical altercations, with Mabrey featuring in one. The first one happened when Napheesa Collier and Mabrey scrambled for a loose ball. The Sun veteran went with everything for the ball, but Collier didn’t like her approach. She stood up, seemingly to face off with Mabrey, but teammates and referees got in her way.
Then, Kayla McBride and DiJonai Carrington went at it with less than five minutes left on the clock. Carrington drove to the basket when McBride took the ball from her, which resulted in a hard landing. The 2024 Most Improved Player of the Year didn’t appreciate this physicality and tried to go after McBride, but Mabrey prevented things from escalating.
