The New York Liberty’s quest for the first WNBA championship in franchise history will begin anew with a first-round series against the Atlanta Dream.
Led by reigning MVP Breanna Stewart, the Liberty finished the regular season with the best record in the league (32-8), giving New York home-court advantage throughout the playoffs. The Liberty boast a “Big Three” of Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu and Jonquel Jones that wants to capture the title after falling to the Las Vegas Aces in the 2023 WNBA Finals.
Despite losing 17 of their first 24 games to start the 2024 regular season, the Dream managed to work their way to the No. 8 seed. If Atlanta wants to pull off a massive upset, it will need Rhyne Howard to perform at an All-Star level.
