Fever vs. Sun or Aces? Explaining scenarios for Caitlin Clark’s opponent in 2024 WNBA playoffs bracket

The 2024 WNBA Playoff picture will come down to the final day of the regular season. Seven of the eight playoff teams have been decided but seeding is still to be determined.

Caitlin Clark’s Fever are joined by the Liberty, Lynx, Sun, Aces, Storm and Mercury in clinching their spot in the postseason. The Dream, Sky and Mystics are still battling for the eighth and final seed.

New York (No. 1), Minnesota (No. 2), Seattle (No. 5), Indiana (No. 6) and Phoenix (No. 7) already know their positioning in the playoff bracket. The only concrete matchup is the Lynx vs. Mercury, while we also know the Liberty will play whichever team claims the final playoff spot.

That leaves Clark and the Fever with some uncertainty as they await their first-round matchup with either the Sun or the defending champion Aces.

The Fever have clinched the No. 6 seed in the 2024 WNBA Playoffs.

Even though the Mercury (19-20) are one game back of the Fever (20-19) with one game remaining, Indiana defeated Phoenix in all three matchups this season. That means even if the two teams finish with the same record, the Fever will get the sixth seed and the Mercury will settle for seventh.
